These guys are competitive (and they’re green)

When comparing an Aspiration account to a high interest account of a traditional bank, it becomes a no-brainer.

  • Traditional banks require you keep a certain amount of money in your account before they pay you any interest. (Usually 0.01%) Aspiration will pay you much more than that with no minimum requirement.
  • Traditional banks have monthly fees of $10 and upwards. Aspiration does not.
  • Traditional banks charge around $2.50 every time you use a non-brand ATM. Aspiration charges you nothing to access your money via ATM anywhere in the world.
  • Traditional banks will overdraw your account if you make even the simplest of errors, and charge you 20-30 bucks for it. Aspiration will not overdraw your account.?No surprises.
  • Traditional banks generally have horrible track records funding destructive environmental and social enterprises. Aspiration are divested from oil and gas and use their revenue for good.

How easy is it to buy and sell cryptos?

    • Suzanne Leigh
      December 3, 2017 6:15 pm

      Hi David,

If you are referring to linking the Aspiration debit card to an exchange to buy cryptocurrency, that really depends upon both the cryptocurrency exchange and the bank. Many banks flag exchanges as they are looking out for their customers? best interest and there is a lot of fraud in this area. I have heard of a few cases where customers had to call their banks and approve the linkage. As cryptocurrency is such a new and volatile space, most institutions seem to be exercising caution.

    • Hey David. I did a little investigative research in response to your question. No problem linking card to exchanges. No problem moving funds. Hope this helps.

  • Is this available to everyone? Or only for Americans, residents of the USA?

      Hi Annie,

Right now Aspiration is only available to American citizens, but not necessarily US residents. If you are a US citizen living abroad, you can open an account. I am currently living in Asia and I had no problems opening my account with them.

That being said, we are working on finding global partners. Stay tuned!

  • That is amazing, but only for American citizens. Can you suggest any Green Bank available to European citizens?

  • Are there any green bank options for those on a non immigrant work visa like H1B?

    • That is an excellent question, especially in this political climate. We are working on finding some answers for you.

  • Do they do home loans as well?
